## How to use the calendar

Pick the contracts in places you can staff, then watch SAM.gov for the agency's next notice on each one, usually a sources sought or presolicitation notice some months before the end date.

1. Filter the table by state, or download the CSV and sort it by end date.
2. Open each contract on USAspending.gov by its contract number (PIID) to see the history, the place of performance and the amounts.
3. Save a SAM.gov search for the agency and place with the NAICS code (561720, 561730 or 561210) so you see the sources sought notice when it comes.
4. Answer the sources sought notice: it is how a small business helps the contracting officer decide on a set-aside.
5. Visit the site if the agency allows it, and price from the wage determination for that county.

## How the list was built

From federal contract awards in NAICS 561720, 561730 and 561210 since October 2023, as published on USAspending.gov, keeping standalone contracts whose last option period ends by December 31, 2027.

- Source: the USAspending.gov API (public FPDS data), pulled November 4, 2026.
- End date: the potential end date with all options exercised.
- Only standalone contracts and purchase orders; orders under a larger contract (IDIQ or BPA) are left out.
- Only contracts held by small businesses that do janitorial or landscaping work, with $250,000 to $40 million of federal work in these codes since October 2023.
- Value: the base and all options, as reported. Bidders and set-aside: as reported for the last award.
- Incumbent names are left out on purpose. They are public on USAspending.gov.

## What this list does not tell you

Whether or when the agency will bid the work again. Dates move: agencies extend contracts, combine them, bring work in-house or buy it through a larger contract.

FAR 17.204 generally limits a services contract to five years including options, and the option to extend services clause (FAR 52.217-8) lets an agency extend for up to six more months. So an end date is a strong signal, not a promise. Large-business contracts and task orders are not in this list, so the real number of recompetes is higher.

## Questions

### What is a recompete?

A new competition for work that is already under contract, run when the current contract runs out. For recurring services such as cleaning and grounds care, the agency usually still needs the work, so it solicits it again.

### How early should I start on a recompete?

Six to twelve months before the end date. Agencies often post a sources sought notice before deciding on a set-aside, and the solicitation can come out two to four months before the current contract ends.

### Why are the incumbents not named?

This page is for planning bids, not for targeting companies. Every contract number can be looked up on USAspending.gov if you need the full history.

### How often is the list updated?

We plan to rebuild it from USAspending.gov regularly. The date in the file name and on this page shows when it was built.
