What is a product and service code (PSC)?
A product and service code (PSC) is the four-character code the federal government uses to describe what it buys. Every contract action carries one. Janitorial work is usually S201, landscaping and groundskeeping S208, and facilities operations support S216. Searching by PSC finds notices a NAICS search can miss.

Key facts
- Defined in the federal PSC Manual.
- Describes what is bought; NAICS describes the industry and sets the size standard.
- Award data on USAspending.gov can be filtered by PSC.
Why it matters for facility-services bids
Contracting officers sometimes pick an unexpected NAICS code, but the PSC still says what the work is. Search by both.
